Chief Operating Officer (COO), ad-tech, NY 

The COO will serve as a key member of our executive team, responsible for overseeing and optimizing our Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing functions. This role requires a unique blend of technical acumen in ad technology, operational expertise, and leadership skills to drive sustainable growth and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Lead and optimize Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing operations to achieve aggressive growth targets
  • Develop and execute comprehensive go-to-market strategies aligned with company objectives
  • Establish and maintain operational frameworks, processes, and metrics across revenue-generating functions
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration and alignment between technical and commercial teams

Sales & Revenue Operations

  • Oversee sales strategy, pipeline management, and revenue forecasting
  • Implement scalable sales processes and systems to support rapid growth
  • Optimize sales team structure, compensation plans, and performance management
  • Drive strategic partnerships and channel development initiatives

Customer Success & Retention

  • Build and scale customer success programs to maximize retention and expansion
  • Develop customer health scoring and risk management frameworks
  • Oversee post-sale customer journey optimization and value realization programs
  • Establish customer feedback loops and product development alignment

Marketing & Growth

  • Lead demand generation, brand positioning, and marketing strategy
  • Oversee digital marketing campaigns and performance optimization
  • Drive product marketing initiatives and competitive positioning
  • Manage marketing technology stack and attribution modeling

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Partner with the CEO and executive team on strategic planning and business development
  • Lead operational planning, budgeting, and resource allocation processes
  • Drive data-driven decision making through analytics and performance monitoring
  • Identify and execute strategic initiatives for market expansion and operational efficiency

Required Qualifications

Experience & Leadership

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in technology companies
  • 5+ years in C-level or VP-level roles overseeing multiple operational functions
  • Proven track record of scaling organizations from startup to growth stage
  • Experience managing teams of 50+ across multiple disciplines

Technical Background

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent technical background
  • Deep understanding of ad technology ecosystem (DSPs, SSPs, DMPs, programmatic advertising)
  • Experience with marketing technology, CRM systems, and revenue operations tools
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data-driven decision making

Functional Expertise

  • Demonstrated success in building and scaling Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing functions
  • Experience with B2B SaaS business models and recurring revenue metrics
  • Strong understanding of customer lifecycle management and retention strategies
  • Proven ability to optimize conversion funnels and revenue operations

Leadership & Communication

  • Exceptional leadership and team-building capabilities
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience in high-growth, fast-paced environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field
  • Experience in programmatic advertising, ad serving, or marketing automation platforms
  • Background in venture capital or private equity-backed companies
  • International business development experience
  • Previous experience as COO, CRO, or CMO in ad tech or related industry

Reporting Structure

This role reports directly to the CEO and will manage department heads for Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing, with indirect oversight of 75-100 team members across these functions.
